Weapon Proficiency, Repair, and Gathering Leveling

Weapon Leveling

   Weapons are leveled up based on the number of hits on a target. It doesn’t matter where you shoot (shooting range target, mob, NPC, or another player), the main thing is the fact of hitting the target.

The weapon leveling speed is affected by:

★ Intelligence (character stats) – gives 20-30% per stat point;

★ “Cunning” Stimulant – gives an additional 1-3 intelligence points (total no more than 10);

★ “Diligent Student” (Engineer class skills, upper branch) – gives from +5% to +25% (depending on the number of unlocked skills);

★ “Fast Learning” (Clan skill in PvP branch) – gives from +10% to +20% (depending on the number of unlocked skills);

★ Premium Status – increases weapon leveling XP by 30%;

★ When leveling a Settler’s weapon, use the “buckshot” ammo type (since each shell contains 8 pellets, which speeds up the shotgun leveling process);

★ Gas grenades are leveled up faster on mobs (e.g., rats) so damage is registered;

★ For leveling grenade launchers, hand grenades, and mines, the fact of firing \ throwing \ explosion matters (it is not necessary to hit the target and deal damage).

Gathering XP Leveling

To level up Gathering XP, you need to mine ore with a pickaxe (thanks, Cap). Gathering XP is leveled not by the number of pickaxe hits on the ore, but by the amount of ore mined. Therefore, if you need to level up Gathering XP quickly, you should mine Stone (since it has the highest drop rate) and invest all free skill points into Luck (with Luck, the amount of mined ore increases)..

Weapon leveling speed is affected by:

★ Intelligence (character stats) – gives 20-30% per stat point;

★ “Cunning” Stimulant – gives an additional 1-3 Intelligence (total no more than 10);

★ “Diligent Student” (Engineer class skills, upper branch) – gives from +5% to +25% (depending on the number of unlocked skills);

★ “Gatherer” and “Mining” (Settler class skills, upper branch) – increases resource drop chance by +26% (with all skills unlocked);

★ “Fast Learning” (Clan skill in PvP branch) – gives from +10% to +20% (depending on the number of unlocked skills);

★ Premium Status – increases pickaxe leveling XP by 30%;

★ Luck (character stats) – increases ore drop chance, which directly affects leveling speed;

★ “Fortune” Stimulant – gives an additional 1-2 Luck (total no more than 10)..

For example, take a Settler:

– 8 Luck, 2 Intelligence, “Gatherer” and “Mining” +26%, “Fast Learning” +20%. Only Coal was mined. 1 fully upgraded pickaxe gave +1.09% to Gathering XP.

– 8 Luck, 2 Intelligence, “Gatherer” & “Mining” +26%, “Fast Learning” +20%, “Resource Drop Chance” +5%. Only Stone was mined. 1 fully upgraded pickaxe gave +1.95% to Gathering XP.

It turns out that to level up Gathering XP by 100%, you need to spend approximately 50 – 100 pickaxes (depending on the mined ore and character stats). .

Repair XP Leveling

To level up character Repair XP, you need to repair worn weapons and armor (but do this only using repair kits, NOT through the Gunsmith!!!).

To effectively develop this skill, it is recommended to use repair kits from the very beginning of the game, which can be bought at any shop from NPCs, rather than visiting the Gunsmith.

Advantages of this approach:

– You will start leveling the skill from the very beginning.

– You avoid the possibility of accidentally selling a needed item. There are frequent cases where players habitually sell an item instead of repairing it. Such items cannot be returned, even by the game administration, so it is better not to take the risk.

Previously, Repair XP could be leveled by repairing items of any level. For example, high-level players stood on Sunny and repaired items for newbies for free. This way they gained XP, and newbies saved money on repairs.

There was also a way to level repair from 0 to 100% in just 4–6 hours of real time. This required an Engineer and Valenki. Players would put on an MTL, wear Valenki, and the person leveling repair would shoot at them (at another player’s Valenki in an MTL) with weak weapons (e.g., PPSh), simultaneously leveling both weapon and repair. An alternative was: a high-level player walked in Valenki and aggro’d hordes of Observers, Rats or Dogs. They would bite the Valenki, breaking them, but dealt almost no damage to the character himself. When the Valenki broke – they were repaired, and the process repeated. Subsequently, the administration deemed this method unfair and changed the XP system.

Now, to level repair on a high-level character, you need to repair weapons and armor of the corresponding level. To speed up leveling, most often a level 35 rapid-fire weapon (e.g., Vepr-12) is used, modified so that wear is maximized (i.e., so it breaks fast), and repairing it regularly.

There is also a small “not a bug, but a feature”. With any use of a repair kit, a minimum percentage of XP is always awarded. Therefore, some players act like this: one shot – repair, one shot – repair, and so on. The method is long, requires patience (or a macro, which is forbidden by the rules), but it consumes almost no resources.

Important note: Monitor the condition of weapons and armor so it does not drop below 12%. Otherwise, a “Master” repair kit from the in-game store will be needed to restore it, which significantly increases the cost of leveling..

Repair XP leveling speed is affected by:

★ Intelligence (character stats) – gives 20-30% per stat point;

★ “Cunning” Stimulant – gives an additional 1-3 Intelligence points (total no more than 10);

★ “Diligent Student” (Engineer class skills, upper branch) – gives from +5% to +25% (depending on the number of unlocked skills);

★ “Fast Learning” (Clan skill in PvP branch) – gives from +10% to +20% (depending on the number of unlocked skills);

★ Premium Status – increases repair XP by 30%..

For example, take an Engineer: 7 Intelligence, “Diligent Student” +25%, “Repair Master” +15%, “Fast Learning” +20%.

Repaired MSR-10 M6, condition 15.81%. It took almost 6 standard repair kits. The gain to Repair XP was 0.19%.

When repairing a completely destroyed barrel with a “Master” kit, +0.2%..+0.29% is added (PvE and PvP branches respectively)

It turns out that to level up Repair XP by 100%, you need to spend approximately 3,000 standard repair kits or repair about 500 almost destroyed barrels.
