Ammo
All ammo in the game can be roughly divided into four main types: FMJ, HP, AP, and M1.
FMJ (Full Metal Jacket) — basic, the cheapest ammo.
Ideally suited for leveling up weapons: when you don’t need to kill an opponent quickly or need to save money. They deal minimal damage but are cheap, allowing you to shoot at the target longer and increase the weapon’s level.
HP (Hollow Point) — ammo intended for PvE (shooting mobs).
They possess increased damage against unarmored targets but penetrate armor poorly.
AP (Armor Piercing) — ammo intended exclusively for PvP.
Excellent at penetrating other players’ armor. Sometimes used in PvE as well: fire a few shots with AP ammo to strip a mob’s armor, then switch to HP.
M1 — crafted ammo.
Using them in PvE is unprofitable, but in PvP — extremely effective. It is recommended to start using M1 ammo only at high levels, gathering resources and crafting them “for the future” in advance.
At the early stages of the game, it is recommended to use FMJ and HP ammo. Crafted (M1) ammo should be saved for late PvP content. The exception is Prospectors. They are strongly recommended to craft and use red buckshot from the very beginning — this will give a noticeable advantage even at low levels.
